About Tyrol.
Heart of the Alps
Tyrol is Austria at its most alpine, a land of soaring peaks, glacial valleys and storybook villages tucked beneath the snow line. The Inn river carves through its centre, lined by ancient market towns and crowned by the elegant capital, Innsbruck. Few regions wear their mountains so proudly or make them so easy to reach.

Innsbruck, City Beneath the Mountains
Innsbruck is a rare thing, a buzzing city where ski slopes begin almost at the doorstep. Its medieval old town glitters with the famous Goldenes Dachl, a balcony roofed in thousands of gilded tiles, while imperial palaces and baroque facades line the lanes. A funicular and cable car whisk visitors from the centre up to the Nordkette ridge in minutes, swapping cafés for high alpine air.
Slopes, Glaciers and Endless Trails
This is one of the great winter playgrounds of Europe. Resorts like St. Anton, Ischgl, Kitzbühel and Sölden draw skiers from across the world, and glaciers such as the Stubai and the Pitztal keep the snow falling well beyond the season. When summer comes, the same valleys bloom with wildflowers and fill with hikers, climbers and cyclists chasing crisp mountain views.
Castles, Crystals and Quiet Corners
Beyond the pistes, Tyrol rewards the curious. Schloss Ambras displays a Renaissance treasure trove above Innsbruck, and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds dazzle visitors near Wattens. Tucked away to the south lies East Tyrol, a quieter realm of unspoilt valleys around Lienz and the Hohe Tauern, where the pace slows and the peaks feel wonderfully remote.
