About Türkiye.
Where Two Continents Meet
Türkiye is the only country in the world that straddles two continents, with Istanbul split by the Bosphorus strait between Europe and Asia. This geographic drama has produced a culture of extraordinary depth: Roman amphitheatres, Byzantine mosaics, Ottoman palaces and Seljuk caravanserais all occupy the same landscape, layered across millennia of unbroken civilisation. Few destinations reward slow exploration so generously.

Landscapes of Unlikely Beauty
The Turkish landscape shifts from the fairy chimneys and underground cities of Cappadocia to the travertine terraces of Pamukkale, the wild Black Sea coast and the turquoise inlets of the Aegean and Mediterranean shores. Inland, the high Anatolian plateau is ringed by mountains that hold snow well into spring. Each region has its own rhythm and character, making cross-country travel feel like visiting several countries at once.
A Table Worth Travelling For
Turkish cuisine is one of the world's great culinary traditions. Breakfast spreads of olives, cheeses, eggs and fresh bread set the tone for a day of eating well. Regional specialities vary enormously: the kebab culture of Gaziantep, the seafood meze of the Aegean coast, the flatbreads and stews of eastern Anatolia, and the sweet shops of Istanbul piled high with baklava and lokum. Markets overflow with pomegranates, figs and spices that perfume entire city blocks.
Cities Alive with History and Noise
Istanbul is one of the world's great cities: a tram ride takes you from the Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque to Beyoglu's rooftop bars and gallery-lined backstreets. Ankara offers a more local and unhurried experience alongside the outstanding Museum of Anatolian Civilisations. Izmir, relaxed and coastal, and Antalya, perched above ancient harbour ruins, round out a country where every city has its own distinct personality.
