About Tanzania.
Safari country on an epic scale
Tanzania is home to some of the most celebrated wildlife on the planet. The Serengeti hosts the Great Migration, a churning procession of over a million wildebeest and zebra that crosses the plains each year. Ngorongoro Crater shelters an extraordinary density of predators and prey within a single collapsed caldera. Tarangire and Ruaha offer quieter, more intimate encounters with elephants, lions, and baobab-studded savanna that feel genuinely off the beaten track.

Africa's highest peak and the highlands beyond
Kilimanjaro rises from the surrounding plains to 5,895 metres, a freestanding volcanic massif that draws trekkers from every corner of the world. Multiple routes of varying difficulty wind through montane forest, moorland, and alpine desert before reaching the glaciated summit. Beyond Kilimanjaro, the Southern Highlands around Mbeya offer crater lakes, tea estates, and cool rolling terrain that sees a fraction of the visitor traffic found further north.
A coastline of turquoise water and coral reefs
Tanzania's Indian Ocean coast stretches for over 800 kilometres, fringed by mangrove estuaries, fishing villages, and white-sand beaches. Mafia Island is a marine park with some of East Africa's most pristine coral, outstanding diving, and regular whale shark sightings. The Quirimbas and Pemba Island attract those seeking seclusion, while Dar es Salaam serves as a lively coastal gateway with a vibrant street food scene and a harbour busy with dhow traffic.
Over 120 ethnic groups and a shared Swahili identity
Tanzania is one of Africa's most ethnically diverse nations, with more than 120 distinct groups living alongside one another with a relative harmony that has long distinguished the country regionally. Kiswahili functions as a unifying national language, and its music, food, and hospitality traditions permeate daily life from the coast to the interior. Markets overflow with cassava, plantain, and grilled mishkaki skewers, and the rhythmic pulse of taarab and bongo flava provides an energetic and constant soundtrack.
