About Limpopo.
Africa's Wild Frontier
Limpopo is South Africa's northernmost province and one of the continent's great wildlife destinations. The Limpopo River forms a natural border with Zimbabwe and Botswana, while vast stretches of bushveld roll endlessly beneath a blazing sky. Kruger National Park hugs the eastern edge, putting lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo within reach of any visitor who makes it this far north.

Baobabs, Ruins and Ancient Kingdom
At Mapungubwe National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the South African border with Zimbabwe and Botswana, the remnants of a sophisticated Iron Age kingdom rise from sandstone cliffs. Golden rhino figurines once ruled this hilltop court. Elsewhere, the Baobab Route winds through Musina and Vhembe, passing tree giants believed to be over a thousand years old, their vast, wrinkled trunks giving this province a prehistoric gravity found nowhere else in the country.
Panoramas, Escarpments and Waterfalls
The Drakensberg Escarpment cuts a dramatic path through the west of the province, forming the edge of the Mpumalanga and Limpopo highlands. Tzaneen sits among tea plantations and avocado farms in a surprisingly green, mist-wrapped valley below the Wolkberg Mountains. The Gods Window viewpoint reveals a canyon of extraordinary depth, and the Magoebaskloof region offers forest hikes, waterfalls and trout streams for those who prefer their adventure served cool and lush.
Culture, Hot Springs and the Road North
Polokwane is a lively capital city with excellent food markets, a vibrant arts scene and the energy of a place that genuinely belongs to its region rather than performing for tourists. Bela-Bela, known for its natural hot springs, has drawn travellers for centuries. Limpopo is also the spiritual home of the Venda, Tsonga and Northern Sotho peoples, whose living traditions of woodcarving, pottery, and sacred sites give the province a cultural depth that rewards slow, curious travel.
