About Kuwait.
A Gulf capital with an old soul
Kuwait sits where the Arabian desert meets the turquoise rim of the Gulf, a compact country where skyline towers look across to wooden dhows still bobbing at the corniche. Visitors find a city nation proud of its seafaring past, its pearl diving heritage, and the warm hospitality that tends to arrive with the first small cup of cardamom coffee.

Souqs, seafood, and long, lazy evenings
Evenings begin late and stretch long. Families gather at Souq Mubarakiya for grilled fish and fresh bread, while younger crowds drift between gleaming malls, beachfront cafes in Salmiya, and the boardwalks along the Gulf Road. Food here is a genuine cross section of the region, with Iranian, Levantine, Indian, and Bedouin flavours on the same menu.
Heritage that rewards a second look
The Kuwait Towers remain the postcard shot, but the real pleasure is wandering through the Tareq Rajab Museum or admiring the restored pearl diving boats at the Maritime Museum. Out at Sadu House, traditional Bedouin weaving is still taught in its original patterns, offering a quiet, tactile counterpoint to the shopping districts.
A base for desert, sea, and onward travel
With a modern international airport just south of the capital and a growing cruise presence, Kuwait works well as a focused short stay or a springboard to the wider Gulf. Day trips reach the Hellenistic ruins on Failaka Island, the tidal flats of Jahra, and the red earth badiya where weekend camps bloom after the first cool nights of autumn.
