Where the Savannah Meets the Sky
Kenya is the homeland of the safari. Across the Maasai Mara, vast golden grasslands stretch to the horizon, and the drama of the Great Migration sees over a million wildebeest thunder through in one of nature's most spectacular annual events. Amboseli frames the snow-capped silhouette of Kilimanjaro behind herds of elephant, while Tsavo and Samburu offer wilder, less-trodden wilderness. Nowhere else on earth puts you quite so close to lions, leopards, and giants roaming free.

A Coast Steeped in Swahili Splendour
The Kenyan coast is a world apart. Mombasa Old Town winds through carved wooden doorways and coral-stone mosques, layered with centuries of Arab, Persian, and Portuguese influence. Lamu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, moves at the pace of a donkey cart and the lap of the tide, its narrow alleys fragrant with jasmine and fresh fish. Diani and Malindi offer powdery white beaches framed by the warm Indian Ocean, where dhow sailing, snorkelling, and fresh seafood fill long, unhurried evenings.
Highland Highlands and the Rift Valley
Away from the savannah, Kenya reveals a cooler, greener side. The Great Rift Valley drops dramatically from the highlands, its floor dotted with soda lakes shimmering pink with flamingos. Nakuru and Bogoria are extraordinary spectacles of birdlife. In the central highlands, the Aberdare forests and Mount Kenya's craggy peaks reward trekkers with moorland scenery and rare species. Tea plantations carpet the slopes around Kericho in vivid emerald, and the towns of this region move to the steady rhythms of highland life.
Nairobi: Africa's Most Dynamic Capital
Nairobi punches well above its weight as a city. A thriving food scene spans rooftop restaurants, Nyama Choma joints, and innovative contemporary kitchens drawing from across East Africa. The Nairobi National Park sits improbably on the city's doorstep, where you can watch rhino graze against a skyline backdrop. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Giraffe Centre offer intimate encounters with orphaned elephant calves and endangered Rothschild giraffes. After dark, the Westlands and Karen neighbourhoods hum with music, craft cocktails, and conversation.
