About Jordan.
Where Ancient Civilisations Left Their Mark
Jordan sits at a crossroads that empires once competed to control, and the evidence is everywhere. Petra, the Nabataean city carved directly into rose-red sandstone cliffs, is one of the ancient world's great engineering feats and still capable of stopping even seasoned travellers in their tracks. The Roman city of Jerash, with its sweeping colonnaded streets and remarkably intact temples, stands as one of the finest examples of provincial Roman urbanism anywhere in the world. Madaba holds Byzantine mosaics that have survived more than fifteen centuries underfoot, including a detailed map of the Holy Land that pilgrims and historians still study today.

Landscapes That Belong to Another World
Wadi Rum is a place that seems to have been assembled by a particularly ambitious film set designer. Vast rust-coloured plains stretch between sandstone towers and granite mountains, with colours that shift from orange to violet as the sun moves across the sky. Sleeping under the stars in a Bedouin camp here is an experience that resists easy description. Down at the lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea offers something genuinely unlike any other swim on the planet. The extraordinary salt concentration makes sinking almost impossible, and the mineral-rich mud smeared on the shore has been drawing visitors for therapeutic purposes since the age of Cleopatra.
Amman: A City of Hills and Contrasts
Amman is a city that rewards those willing to explore beyond the main drag. The Citadel perches above the downtown area with its Roman Temple of Hercules and sweeping views over the terraced white limestone city below. The Rainbow Street neighbourhood is where you will find independent cafes, bookshops, and restaurants open late into the evening. The souks and markets of downtown reward slow wandering, offering everything from hand-beaten copper goods to stalls piled with spices, dried fruit, and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. The city's food scene, from hole-in-the-wall mansaf joints to contemporary restaurants reworking Levantine classics, consistently delights.
Hospitality as a Way of Life
Jordanians have a reputation for warmth that visitors consistently find to be completely accurate. Sharing a cup of cardamom-spiced coffee or sweet tea with a shopkeeper, a guide, or a chance acquaintance on the road is not an exception here but very much the rule. The culinary traditions reflect the country's position at a regional crossroads: mansaf, the national dish of lamb slow-cooked in fermented dried yoghurt and served over rice with flatbread, is a communal celebration food eaten with the right hand gathered around a shared platter. Jordan is a place where the word marhaba is offered freely, and where travellers frequently find themselves leaving with more warmth than they arrived with.
