Inland, crater lakes hide in old volcanic calderas and waterfalls cascade through canopies thick with mahogany and wild orchids. The island's craft chocolate makers have earned international acclaim, transforming locally grown cacao into bars that rival anything from Europe.

Spicemas, Grenada's annual Carnival in August, fills the streets with colourful mas bands, calypso competitions and the thundering rhythms of steel pan and soca. The 18th century Fort George still watches over the harbour of St. George's, offering panoramic views and a glimpse into the island's layered colonial history. Grenadians are famously warm and welcoming, and the pace of life here encourages lingering over a rum punch as the sun drops behind the headland.
