Where the Great Lakes Meet the Wild North
Ontario is Canada's most visited province for good reason. The sheer scale of it defies easy description -- from the thundering curtain of Niagara Falls in the south to the ancient boreal forests and exposed Canadian Shield rock of the north, this is a place of dramatic contrasts. The Great Lakes alone account for more freshwater shoreline than most countries have coastline, and the province wears that geographic inheritance with quiet pride.

Toronto: A City That Defies a Single Identity
The provincial capital Toronto is one of the most culturally diverse cities on the planet, where over 200 languages are spoken and entire neighbourhoods pulse with the energy of distinct communities. World-class museums, a vibrant arts scene, the CN Tower, and a waterfront that stretches for kilometres make it endlessly explorable. Beyond the city, the Niagara Peninsula offers wine country touring, while cottage country north of the city draws locals and visitors alike to glittering lakes every summer.
Ottawa and the Capital Region
Canada's capital sits on Ontario's eastern edge where the Ottawa River forms the border with Québec, and it punches well above its weight as a destination. The Rideau Canal -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site -- transforms into the world's largest naturally frozen skating rink each winter, while the concentration of national museums, galleries, and galleries along Sussex Drive rivals capitals many times its size. In summer the same canal and surrounding parks become a cycling and paddling playground.
Plan Your Ontario Journey
Toronto Pearson International Airport is one of North America's major hubs, making Ontario straightforward to reach from across the globe. The province rewards slow travel -- rent a car and head north to Algonquin Provincial Park for canoe tripping and wildlife spotting, or follow the shores of Lake Superior along the Trans-Canada Highway for some of the most spectacular scenery the continent has to offer. Ontario does not reveal all its best cards at once; the more you explore, the more it gives.
